Our Story

Texas Restaurant Equipment Service has beginnings rooted in family, hard work, and a desire to serve.  Founder, Ruben De La Garza, Sr., has 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry as an expert equipment installer and service provider.

He began his career in West Texas where he raised his three children with his wife.  Making the move to the DFW Metroplex to expand his experience in the restaurant industry was met with many challenges over the last fifteen plus years.  His journey into becoming a business owner started with $240 dollars that would turn into founding Texas Restaurant Equipment Service (TRES).  His daughter was the lending hand into that journey, so when it came time to brand his newly formed company, he turned to her once more. She thought the name should remain true to why her Dad wanted to start this company.  She recalls as a young girl, her Dad telling her how he wanted to leave behind something for she and her brothers to run one day…that’s when the seed was planted.

The company name, Texas Restaurant Equipment Service was born from the family’s Texan roots and the acronym for Texas Restaurant Equipment Service is TRES meaning ‘three’ in Spanish and is representative of his three children, his daughter, Lisa, two sons, Ruben Jr. and Randy.

TRES is a family owned and operated business driven by a father’s promise.
